Sam made these sketches after long discussions with
metal fabricators who specialize in large construction projects. Both
companies contacted also have experience working with artists. The
input from the structural engineer will also play a key factor. The
double helix spiral banding (not shown in these diagrams) will connect
the instruments and provide stability. The instruments will be arranged
on the viewing platform in a triangular pattern.
The instruments have no tops. You will see the sky
through them. The "F holes" in this fiddle are solid whereas in a
regular fiddle they are holes- sound holes.
The sketch of the fiddle is not to scale with the sketch of the
guitar and banjo.
The model created from the sketches is to scale and can be used in
the production to full size metal fabrication.
